Registration Package and Memo #2 – November 13, 2016

Congratulations on qualifying for the 2016 BC Boys A Volleyball Provincial Championships!  Centennial Christian School and the Terrace area are looking forward to hosting you November 24-26, 2016.  This memo will be emailed to all qualifying schools and is also available on our provincial’s website that has been set up at:  provincials.centennialchristian.ca   

There are registration, photo and logo deadlines on Monday, Nov 14 that you need to be aware of.  Attached you will find a registration spreadsheet that needs to be completed and returned with team photo (numbers visible please) and athletic logo to office@centennialchristian.ca by 4:00pm on Monday, Nov 14.   The registration spreadsheet is also on the provincials website under the tournament info tab.   Individual questions can be emailed to Edgar Veldman: principal@centennialchristian.ca or Joel Ringma:  jringma@hotmail.com or phone 250-635-6173

Registration/Photo/Practice Slots:

Please email Edgar Veldman at principal@centennialchristian.ca to book a registration/photo time on Wednesday, November 23 at Centennial Christian School and a practice slot immediately after at one of the venues.  This will be on a first come first serve basis .  Please check the website under Events at http://provincials.centennialchristian.ca/index.php/events/ to see what photo/practice slots are still available before you book a time.  Please arrive 5 -10 minutes before your scheduled photo time so you have time to change and so we stay on schedule. 

Competition Details:

Tournament format is two pools of six teams playing round robin games within pool.  The top 4 teams in each pool after round robin play advance to the quarter-finals.  The last two teams in each pool compete for 9-12th placement.  All teams will play 3 round robin matches in one venue and 2 round robin matches in the opposite venue before playoffs begin.  It is important to note that school will be in session at the Skeena Middle School venue (a local public school) on the Thursday and Friday of the tournament and we want to minimize disruption to their classes and learning.  Please inform your team and fans about this.

Entry Fees:

There will be a gate at both venues throughout the tournament.  This is to help offset some of the costs of running provincials.  Please let your parents and supporters know that there is a modest entry fee each day of provincials:

School Aged students - $2.00/day       Adults - $5.00/day

Canteen and Food:

The grade 12 grad class and parents will be running a canteen at both venues including hot food.  They are in the process of setting up pre-orders for lunch/supper for teams who wish to have this ready for their teams.  More details to come on the menu and how to pre-order.

Banquet:

The Banquet will take place at Centennial Christian School gym on Friday night November 25 at 8:00pm.  It is mandatory for all teams and tickets are $25.00 each on the registration spreadsheet.  Dress is semi-formal.  We are asking all teams to bring one door prize for the banquet valued at around $15.00

Tournament Hoodies and T-Shirts:

Tournament Hoodies and T-Shirts are available for pre-order only on the team’s registration spreadsheet.  This information must be in on Monday, Nov 14 at 4:00pm so an order can be placed with our supplier.  One complimentary hoodie is provided to each head coach.  Cost is as follows :  

 Provincial hoodie – navy blue with provincials logo on front - $38.00

 Provincial T-shirt  navy blue with provincials logo on front -  $16.00

Sat, Nov 12 – Zone qualifications are completed

Mon, Nov 14 – qualified teams submit their team photo (high quality with all numbers visible), athletics logo, and registration information (roster, clothing order, banquet ticket #’s) to office@centennialchristian.ca (photo, logo and roster sooner if possible)  Spreadsheet forms will be emailed to schools and also will be available on the provincial website.  All information needs to be sent by 4:00pm on Mon, Nov 14

Tues, Nov 15 – final seeding for the tournament established by Zone Reps and provincial schedule and draw is published on provincial website.  Tournament format is two pools of six teams playing round robin games within pool.  The top 4 teams in each pool after round robin play advance to the quarter-finals.  The last two teams in each pool compete for 9-12th placement.

Wed, Nov 23 –   3:30pm – 6:30pm - Registration and pictures at Centennial Christian School coordinated with 30 minute practice times for each at competition venues.  Check the events tab on the website for available times and email principal@centennialchristian.ca to request a time.  Coaches meeting at Centennial Christian School staff room at 8:15pm….  

Thurs, Nov 24 – Opening Ceremonies at 9:00am at North West Trades (Thornhill Junior School) is mandatory.  Teams must be at North West Trades at 8:40am to gather in the Trades Center Lobby.  Tournament matches begin at 10:15am at both venues and the final match for the day is scheduled for 8:15pm.  

Fri, Nov 25 – Round robin matches continue starting at 8:30am and the last round robin match is at 2:20pm.  Quarter-finals begin at 4:00 and 5:30pm at both venues.  Banquet (semi-formal) is at 8:00pm at Centennial Christian School gym.

Sat, Nov 26 -  AGM meeting at Centennial Christian School staff room at 7:30am.  Placement matches begin at 9:00am at both venues.  Semi-finals are scheduled for 11:30am at both venues.  Bronze medal and Gold medal games are scheduled for 4:00pm and 5:30pm at North West Trades (Thornhill Junior School).  Closing ceremonies follow the gold medal game at approximately 7:00pm and is mandatory for all teams.

Accommodations:

The official tournament hotel is the brand new Holiday Inn Express located directly across Highway 16 from the North West Trades (Thornhill Junior School) venue.  We have blocked off rooms for the tournament here for $119.00/night which includes a hot breakfast.  Please mention Sr. Boys Volleyball Provincials when you phone or quote block code: SVB   We highly recommend that you take advantage of this great rate and location. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Terrace

Tournament Entry Fee/Uniforms:

The tournament entry fee is $375.00.  We would prefer one cheque from your school that includes the entry fee, all banquet tickets, and all clothing orders.  Please make cheques payable to Centennial Christian School.

Uniforms - All teams will be asked to observe the Canadian Volleyball Association uniform code.  Team members shall be dressed in a jersey and shorts of the same color. (Not some black shorts and some red, etc…)  Libero uniform should be distinctly different

Memo #1 – October 19, 2016

Greetings from Terrace!  Centennial Christian School is looking forward to hosting the BC Boys A Volleyball Championship November 24-26, 2016.  Plans and preparations are ongoing and we anticipate a great event here in Northwest BC.  We have received a few questions by email and know that teams are already making plans to travel to Terrace.  We trust that this Memo will address some of the questions you might have at this time.  This memo will be emailed to Zone reps to forward to all Single A schools in their zone with Sr. Boys Volleyball teams.  From this point on we would prefer to communicate information to all teams via our provincial’s website that has been set up at:  provincials.centennialchristian.ca   Please check this site for future Memo updates and all your information.  Individual questions can be emailed to Edgar Veldman principal@centennialchristian.ca or phone 250-635-6173
